The day tour to Bijambare nature park, followed with stories of only European soil pyramid complex – Valley of Bosnian Pyramids, ending with relaxing but amazingly beautiful region of Springs of River Bosna is simply day being spent on extraordinary great way.
The tour will begin at 8.00 AM and initially we ll do around 45-60 min drive from Sarajevo to reach Bijambare Nature Park area.
After we are there, first we shall take a nice walk through the beautiful combination of oak, beech and pine forest to reach the Cave complex. The walk is rich enriched with plenty of beautiful scenery, small creeks, small lake usually there in spring/winter, fresh air and much more, what will make us have a great beginning at least.
After we reach the Caves complex, first we shall have the opportunity to see Gornja cave (upper-cave). Gornja cave is the oldest cave in Bijambare area. It is neither a big speleological structure nor does it have the beautiful decoration which make Srednja cave so attractive. However it hides in its floor the most important records of the past fauna and mankind prehistory. Also it is the highest cave so great panorama views are thing we do not miss here.
The natural monument, Vrelo Bosne, is spread out over 603 hectares at the foot of Mount Igman in Ilidža, about 15 kilometers from the center of Sarajevo.
As it is the source of the Bosna River, with lovely lakes full of fish and swans and small green islands, and since temperatures in summer are several degrees lower here than in Sarajevo, Vrelo Bosne has been a favorite outing destination for Sarajevans for the past 100 years.
This area serves as a habitat for various plant communities and animal species, some of which are endemic. Six streams from the Vrelo Bosne source area flow into the Mala Bosna watercourse, which is home to indigenous varieties of river trout.
Vrelo Bosne is also an area which contains the main source for Sarajevo’s “Bačevo” drinking water.
Vrelo Bosne is fenced in and well maintained. There are benches, covered rest areas, play areas for children and a restaurant in the center of the complex which serves a local specialty – fresh river trout.
